GM Compensation Fund Death Toll at 42

Dec 15th, 2014 – On Dec 15th the GM Compensation Fund approved a 42nd death compensation claim. The General Motors compensation fund, overseen by Kenneth Feinberg was scheduled to end this month. The GM Compensation fund has already been extended until the end of Janurary. The GM Compensation Fund is usually updated every Monday and can be viewed here

There are currently over 2,000 filed claims. Already there are over 300 Ineligible claims with an additional 568 claims being deemed "Deficient". The claims are broken up into two categories. Category One Claims: Physical Injuries resulting in Quadriplegia, Paraplegia, Double Amputation, Permanent Brain Damage or Pervasive Burns. Category Two Claims: Physical Injuries requiring hospitalization (or outpatient medical treatment) within 48 hours of the accident. General Motors has estimated it will need to spend approx $400-$600 million dollars in regards to the GM Compensation program.
